Playtime is not just for kids!
One of my favorite toys is my iPhone. OK, top 3, after my 7D and my piano! Always skeptical of the latest expensive technology, I am years behind in terms of techie toys. I'm not a spontaneous shopper and I don't dive into trends until they have proven their longevity! So I was late getting a cell phone, late getting an iPhone, I'm still waiting to see how Twitter and Pinterest will turn out... but I just got into Instagram!
There was a long-running heated debate when Instagram started to gain popularity amongst professional photographers. For = it's awesome! Against = it stifles creativity, turns everyone into a "photographer", blah, blah. I watched and waited to see where it would all lead, but after viewing some very striking Instagram pictures by South African photographer Peter Russell, I decided to give it a try. And I L♥VE it! Don't get me wrong, an Instagram picture is no substitute for a professional image. The iPhone camera can't compete with a DSLR and the Instagram edits basically just corrupt the image. BUT for a quick, easy, fun glimpse of every day life that can be shared instantly with loved ones around the world on social media, it is great to play with!!
This is my playtime! Each of these pictures represents a fleeting moment, captured on my iPhone and immediately shared. Happy memories, fun times, beloved friends at different stages of life. Instant souvenirs :)
